Named president, CEO and director in 2008, Mr. Converse joined the bank in 2000 and served most recently as executive vice president & chief operating officer. Prior to joining the bank, he held senior positions with the international accounting firm of KPMG, LLP in Washington, DC and MainStreet Financial Corp. in Martinsville, VA and began his banking career in Charlotte at NCNB, now Bank of America. He earned a bachelors degree in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and a Graduate Degree of Advanced Management from the NC School of Banking at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill through the North Carolina Banker's Association. He holds nationally recognized certifications in the fields of Trust and Investments, Internal Audit, Bank Auditing and Fraud Investigation. Mr. Converse is active in various banking, civic and local organizations to include: vice chairman and NC representative to the Community Bankers Bank board of directors; Currituck County Economic Development Board; the North Carolina Coastal Federation Board and former chairman of the Currituck Chamber of Commerce board.
